The Witcher 3 just can’t come soon enough. Then again, I’m hoping to finish reading all the books before the game launches, so this extra reading time is sort of helpful for me. The books are helping me understand more about the lore of the game, and makes me even more wary of The Wild Hunt.
Over on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt website, they’re teasing that people must follow the trail and discover the secret. Other than that, there are just a bunch of social media widgets – nothing to see yet. I’m assuming that we will follow the trail to an eventual new teaser trailer, or maybe even a playable demo. For now, though, I feel like I’m getting whipped up to join The Wild Hunt – I’m on the trail and excited without knowing what I’m excited for.
Here’s hoping that it’s a more unconventional promotion. Maybe it’s a YouTube adventure, where you follow various links and end up learning more about the game. Or maybe it could be a series of puzzles to solve, using all of Geralt’s abilities to overcome your foes and uncover the truth. For now, it just feels like a vague attempt at building hype for a game that is only coming in a few months. I refuse to get excited just yet. Okay, I was already excited, but I refuse to let this contribute to that excitement. I’ll just keep reading the books to satisfy my Geralt urges.
Is the Witcher 3 your most anticipated game? Are you ignoring all other epic games until it comes, or are you happily enjoying the current resurgence of deep, detailed and gorgeous RPGs?
