We here at Lazygamer love the opinions, rumours and shocks in the gaming industry so this is possibly my most favourite awards video from the Gametrailers GotY awards.
They vote for their top surprise of 2008 and it’s a nice trip back in time looking over them all again. The nominations were Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360, Wii sales domination, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Halo 3 ODST and Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami teaming up with EA.

The biggest surprise for 2008 was the Final Fantasy saga, pinned as a major blow for Sony and a major boost for the Xbox 360. Only time will tell if that is true.

FF13 was a big surprise, but i’m quite surprised that Tekken 6 also jumping ship didn’t make that list.
Halo 3 expansion was not a surprise.

Halo 3 expansion was a surprise for me… they haven’t done expansions the first 2.. and FF13 on the 360 wasn’t a surprise.. it got me money….
Square Enix were already develping other games on the 360.. had stated in interviews that they like the 360… had the big mash up with Sony the year before about the game… and considering the much larger userbase on the 360 over the PS3… they are a company in this for money after all.. I was postive it was going to happen.
