Get ready to die all over again in Borderlands:The Pre-Sequel’s Ultimate Vault Hunter mode

1 min read

What’s that? You need a challenge in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel? You need your skills tested to the max, pushed to the verge of throwing a controller through the TV screen? Well, you might be in luck, you masochist. Borderlands games have always been a step above when it comes to difficulty, throwing pure bullet sponges at players that just won’t die. Expect those enemies to be even spongier, when the Ultimate Vault Hunter pack arrives for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Gearbox’s Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode will be out on December 11 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners of the Pre-Sequel. PC gamers will need to wait until December 16 for the free update. So what’s inside of it? Massively scaled enemies and bosses, with foes scaling to the level of the highest-level pal in co-op modes. From Gearbox:

  • Regular enemies will receive a 1.5x health multiplier and 1.5x shield multiplier
  • Badass enemies will receive a 2.5x health multiplier and 3.5x shield multiplier
  • Enemies are now more likely to drop ammo, plus enemies and chests will give you better gear than in other playthroughs
  • Elemental weapons will also be more effective, as will gear with elemental resistance

It should be interesting to see how this works out, with the moon physics and cryo weapons. Borderlands 2 had the exact same mode, which was later augmented further to become the Digistruct Challenge. It was harder than Adamantium nails, and the only way to succeed was to not only have the best guns and skills possible, but to take advantage of the Eridium element, slagging your enemies in order to deal more damage.

Eridium isn’t present in the Pre-Sequel, so this might be an even harder challenge than ever before. Crikey.

Yeah, but just wait, they’ll release a 2nd one, and then a third one, and you’ll have to pay for them.

I hardly doubt they’ll let you pay for a difficulty increasing update. Then again it actually might happen and the fool that goes and buys it should be hammered down with a huge pink wobbly floppy dildo Saints Row style.

They’ll make you pay for level cap increases instead. That’s what they did in B2.

You obviously haven’t seen the updates for Borderlands 2… you had to pay for the Ultimate Vault Hunter DLC’s.

greater shield bonus than health bonus on badasses, like we werent overly reliant on shock weapons already.
so they nerf the rosie and buff shields on badasses, sounds legit.
