Gran Turismo 5′s official and massive list of cars

20 min read
45

Have you heard? In about eleven days we’ll all get to play Gran Turismo 5! That’s next to no time when you consider how long we’ve already been waiting. You can read all about the release over on Nick’s post, if you haven’t already.

What better way to celebrate an imminent release this massive, than by releasing a list of cars this massive? Needless to say, the Japanese cars dominate this list, but I’m super excited by the overwhelming amount of Honda cars; the Civic Type R is there and that makes me a happy camper. Here’s the whole list of cars; all 1031 of them. This is history in the making as we publish the longest post Lazygamer has ever had. I feel so sorry for those of you who only have a touch-pad.

Deep breath!

You should indicate next to each car if it is a std or premium car…

I’m just going to re-paste a comment from Ndibu that was left on the site last week with regards to the car list. Seems some people aren’t very happy about it, here it is:

    ———-

Well, this week’s topic was just about as heated as a wet T-shirt contest at an old age home!
How about for next week the article be this: Hugh LOL @ GT5 Car List!
Out of the 1031 Cars there are
100 Nissans with 40, yes 40, Skylines lol
    99 Hondas,
    17 S2000′s lol

    95 Mazda’s
    17 RX-7′s
    71 Mitsubishi’s 25 Lancers and 11 3000 GT’s

    98 Toyotas
    10 Celica’s
    Only 12 Ferrari’s and NO F50, FAIL
    No Saabs
    No E30 M3
Bugatti Veyron given the Standard treatment yet there are THREE Suzuki freaking CAPPUCCINO’s that are PREMIUM!! What the H??? What in the world is a freaking CAPPUCCINO and why would any self respecting game studio put THREE in a game and make them ALL PREMIUMS! OVER A BUGATTI?!!
They might as well change the name of this game to Gran Turismo Japan. More than half the car list is from Japan and the list is inflated with repeats, I mean come on, 40 skyline GT-R’s…why?
Who needs that many S2000′s? I didn’t even mention the lack of the world’s most awarded racing car manufacturer, Porsche. If Forza can have them, why can’t GT?…LAME

Why Why Why would anyone want to drive a Daihatsu of any kind in a so called RACING simulator??? Theres 16 of them in GT5!

Well, I for one want 17 S2000’s. Also dissapointed at some of the ommissions (new Audi’s) but damn, this list still dwarfs any other car game;s list.

The game is made by the Japanese so let them have their spoils. There is MORE than enough cars I would wish to drive.

Kinda dissapointed about RUF also. It is the same RUF’s that was in GT4 and all standard. O well, guess I’d be driving some of the other amazing cars then!

    It is a DRIVING! simulator…..

I knew there was going to be a lot of people moaning about some of the cars. But please, when you are spoilt for choice already, at least appreciate what you get and don’t focus on what you don’t get.

They could have put in 500 unique cars instead with more variety and this would have still broken all kinds of sales records nevermind being launched 2 years ago. They don’t even have any of the “reasonably priced cars” to go with the Top Gear track! No, lets have 16 friggin Daihatsu shopping trolleys instead

People aren’t complaining because of a lack of useless cars like the fanboys seem to be suggesting. Trust me, if there’s one complaint it WON’T be because of a LACK of USELESS cars!

People are questioning the inflated list, why in the world does anybody need a special color Midnight Purple II AND a Special Color Midnight Purple III Skyline GT-R!! It’s the same freaking car!

What people really have a gripe with is with ALL the useless cars they included, cars like Saab, Koensigg, Scirrocco and the Iconic E30 M3 are missing. This whole EA licence is not carrying water, if Microsoft can strike a deal with them then why can’t their best buddy Sony do the same? RUF is not an acceptable substitute, esp when they only have 5, all of which are at least a freaking decade old!

I guess my gripe is coming from all the hate and ridicule Forza got for its 400, now 500 car list, at least it wasn’t filled with 50 variants of the same car! After all these years of talking up this game, the car list is disappointing. We’ll talk about the Stunning damage on flamebait friday:

Not being a GT fan I can’t say I am overly phased by the list but with Porsche being such an iconic brand I would have expected them to be included…

Taking the 911 Turbo around the track is one of those things that appeals to me greatly.

Also my last car was a Suzuki SX4 which I really don’t recommend so I wish that one had damage modelling so I could give it the treatment it so deserved.

80% of that list seems to be cars from the years 99-04

And from a Ferrari fan perspective, that list looks dissapointing. Also the track list looks weak. PS3 or Blu-Ray has mets its limitation huh? And lets not get started on the lack of Porches.

Why the hell is everyone going on like horses with flaps on their eyes.

Going mal because certain stuff are there or not. Who says there wont be DLC content for more cars and other manufactures. Updates that might change cars from standard to premium. More tracks and weather feathers more tracks.

For crying out loud people, there has gone a lot more in to GT5 than meets the eye. It’s the stepping stone for GT6 and beyond. They created a lot of stuff for GT5 so that the next versions can be developed quicker.

Think logical and look at the whole picture. Rather celebrate what has been created and the potential that the future has now. If every car had to be created that everyone wants then GT would be delayed forever. There are way more admin and lisence stuff that goes on behind doors that we have no clue about.

He really does have a point, it was supposed to be worth this very long wait because of the incredible end result that packed in tons and tons of extra features.

So according to this supposed “hype” a game is judged. It must have certain things that we think it should according to a time frame.

If this same thinking is applied to let say Duke Nukem Forever, then it must be the greatest most amazing game ever created by a massive margin.

All I’m saying is I’m looking at the bigger picture and I’m choosing to look at the positive. Sure I wish there were more tracks or more cars. But I’m not going to look strait ahead and nit pick on stuff I wish was there. I’m taking in the good things and celebrating it and looking ahead at what is to come.

5 10 year old RUFs will not replace the most awarded racing car manufacturer in the world.

Duke Nukem has been in and out of production so many times, it is difficult to guage how much development time will have gone into the final product, what with all the platform and engine changes.
GT5 however has been in development for 5 years non-stop, not only that but the various delays have been defended as “perfection takes time” by the very people that now want to give it a free pass and call it a stepping stone. Come on guy…you really waited 5 years for a game and you’re telling me you do not mind calling it a learning experience for the next title?
That isn’t optimism, that is just blind sheepism. They promised perfection, they are serving up a bloated list of unbalanced cars.
No customizing wheels on standard cars? Come on!

Very cool list, I just wish it was more variety instead of 15 versions of the same car slightly tweaked.

Lol, I’d rather skip these idiotic comments about GT5 and wait for the game to come out. I, as well as a lot of other people appreciate the time that has gone into the game and the detail that has gone into the cars.

    Cheers!

Quite right Syth. I can’t wait to play GT5.
I play Forza 3 a hell of a lot, and have not
come close to driving all 400 cars. The comments
seem very fanboyish(is that a word). :dizzy:

the development cycle only took so long because the bunch of fanboys at the top decided to use totally different hardware in the PS3 instead of evolving the PS2’s hardware thus making any previous work obsolete.

So you reckon when the game comes out it won’t be the same list of cars that has 40 repeats and 800 not fully customizable cars. At least they have 3 Premium Cappuccinos…
Not disputing anything else about the game right now, we’re just saying that over 1000 cars isn’t really impressive when you have 50 of the same car, esp after years of hype

Hmm I don’t see the big deal here because previous GT’s had very similiar if not identical line ups. Hardcore GT fans won’t really be phased by this personally I like my Bentley coupes, Porsche Carrera GTs and Lambos.
