GTA Limited Edition

This is not going to be a review of the game itself, but purely about the extra goodies and trinkets that come into play with the special edition version of the game.

Picture the scene, I’m at a work function that involves a lot of drinking, and once again I get a little out of hand, and on my way out, I happen to walk past AWX, and they happen to have gotten their PS3 versions of GTA IV – Special Edition on the shelf, and I know how scarce these puppies are. So as per usual, impulsive mode kicks in, and I have to have it, even though I already have the PS3 standard version, and I know my wife is going to kill me for buying another one, especially at R1000.00.

Now I’d just like to point out here that I have never spent R1000 on a game before, and when I woke this morning, I thought to myself, what have you done?

With trepidation, I opened up the packaging, and was rather surprised. It includes a really cool Black Duffel Bag, a Key ring, the game, Soundtrack and Art book, all included in a Metal Safety Deposit Box.  The Package is of good quality.

Now I sit with the question of, Is this actually worth R1000.00, and would I make the same decision sober? My answer to this question is yes, on both accounts, but it might not be to everyone’s budget or delight.

If you are into collecting things, go for it, but if you’re not that bothered, it might not be worth the extra dough. I do believe it will be a collector’s item down the road, especially if you keep the thing sealed.

Your choice, but I’m happy with mine.

I don’t really go into this special edition thing but can understand that some people will. I would prefer it if they just gave me a T-shirt or sweater.

    I would love a GTAIV T-shirt.

I got the special edition version as well.
I think it’s worth the hefty tag of R1000.

I dig the Duffel Bag, it’s cool and rather large.

Having been done in by limited editions in the past I must confess I would be loathe to spend R1000 on a limited edition…. The artbook will be glanced at once or twice, the soundtrack is ingame so why listen to it anywhere else and as for the bag and SD box… nope.

Def not worth it. The bag is tiny, art book has a tiny bit of writing and can be looked through in 15 minutes and the box can be broken SO easily. The only thing that is nice is the key ring which isnt embarrasing first of all and is nice and solid!

I just want to point out the the limited edition does not look exactly the same as the one in the picture.

The bag doesnt have the yellow zipper-things and the CD doesnt come in a case like that, but rather a slide-in printed cover. Its still really cool but i was sad about those two things.
