Poor old Kano. One of the original cast of Mortal Kombat, he’s been relegated to being little more than a cameo in too many Mortal Kombat games. Even though he was a playable character in 2011’s Mortal Kombat reboot, he was a bit dull to play. That looks to be rectified in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.
According to German mag Gamepro, it seems like everybody’s favourite half cybernetic terminator rip-off, Kano will be a playable character in the impending Mortal Kombat sequel. If I’m honest, I’m rather glad as he’s always been one of my favourites since his rather literal heart-wrenching antics in the first game.
He’s a bit of a divisive character, with many Mortal Kombat die-hards finding him wholly unnecessary, or otherwise boring, but there’s a little interesting tid bit: according to the scans from the magazine, he’s set to have a grappler variation, meaning he’s not just all Kano balls and daggers.
Kano’s set to be one of a at least two characters to be officially revealed at Gamescom this year, with Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon teasing all manner of new things Mortal Kombat X. The game was officially unveiled in June this year, with its first public, playable appearance at E3 . It’s set to continue Mortal Kombat 9’s story mode, though it goes in to the future, with the classic characters having aged around 25 years – opening up spots in the roster for a bevy of brand new, fresh Kombatants.
It’s out next year.
