Here’s your first look at Himura Kenshin and Shishio Makoto in Jump Force

BEYOND LIFE! BEYOND DEATH ITSELF! THERE IS ONLY ANIME! Upcoming Japan-o-fighter Jump Force just keeps on growing lately, adding characters aplenty to its roster. The game is already crawling with a schoolyard’s worth of nuh-uh fan favourites that are just itching for a fight, which includes the likes of Uzumaki Naruto, Luffy D. Monkey and Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumble-meyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitzweimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönendanker-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.

One of those names may have been made up but I’ll never confess.

Anyway, this week see’s two more characters added to the mix: Rurouni Kenshin’s titular reverse-katana wielder Himura Kenshin, alongside arch-nemesis and Universal Pictures Mummy cosplayer Shishio Makoto. Here’s a bunch of screens showing the duo in action as they cross steel with the rest of the Jump Force cast:

Himura Kenshin is a wandering masterless samurai. Despite his small stature and humble nature, he previously worked as the government’s go-to assassin. After tiring of this life, he vowed never to kill again in order to make amends for his previous sins, now fighting only to protect the weak.
The second character announced is Shishio Makoto, one of Kenshin’s strongest foes. His entire body is covered with bandages due to gruesome burns but, despite these old wounds, he is still a vastly dangerous and ruthless enemy.

Caring little for others, he will stop at nothing in order to achieve his goals.

If you never watched the Rurouni Kenshin anime from many many years ago, then maaaaaaaaaan you missed out on a great slice of action. While it eventually went full filler material towards the end, everything leading up to the Shishio arc is magic. The character development, the action and the stakes, all combined for a rip-roaring action adventure.

Jump Force is out next year on February 15, although chances are high that Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumble-meyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitzweimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönendanker-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm may be an OP character.
