How About This Time EA?

1 min read

Last week Monday I posted an article on the comments on Amazon about Spore and how EA needed to get the message.

EA did have something to say but it was not anything close to swallowing their pride and conceding. Not surprisingly they defended the system.

“EA has not changed our basic DRM copy protection system”

“We simply changed the copy protection method from using the physical media, which requires authentication every time you play the game by requiring a disc in the drive, to one which uses a one-time online authentication.” Mariam Sughayer

The stubbornness of EA seems to be getting the better of them. If the comments on the Internet weren’t enough, maybe the extremely high piracy levels will do the trick.

35,000 copies of the game were leeched last week Wednesday alone taking the total to 171,402 copies since September 1st.

It’s a pity that such a great game has been marred by all this controversy and it’s even more of a pity that EA can’t admit they’re wrong. The only way to learn is by making mistakes.
