They may both have surnames that are tough to spell, but they are definitely not the same person (the glasses give Adrian away)

5. There’s a misconception that Bulletstorm was headed by Gears of War lead, Cliff Bleszinski.

Even though a quick glance at the Bulletstorm box will reveal logos from EA and Epic Games, actual development of the game itself came from Polish video game developers People Can Fly, a subsidiary of Epic Games.

The project was headed by Adrian Chmielarz and developed by his team formerly known for their work on Painkiller as well as additional content for the PC version of Gears of War. Cliff Bleszinski is often mistaken as the games creative lead, but was merely assisting in the game’s promotion.

Update: Adrian Chmielarz sent me a tweet saying that “Cliff was reviewing builds, giving feedback, etc.” and that “Yes, PCF is creative force with me as the lead designer, but Cliff did help.”

6. Bulletstorm was accused of possibly being the “worst video game in the world” by Fox News

While some gamers and critics have been accepting of Bulletstorm’s mature content, others have called it out as “forced vulgarity” and was even a part of some major controversy when psychiatrist Carole Lieberman stated on Fox News that:

“Video games have increasingly, and more brazenly, connected sex and violence in images, actions and words. This has the psychological impact of doubling the excitement, stimulation and incitement to copycat acts. The increase in rapes can be attributed, in large part, to the playing out of such scenes in video games.”

7. The mature content in Bulletstorm can be turned off, but not at all times

It’s just Ketchup. We swear. Yeah, err… medic?

While some gamers are embracing the unnecessary violence and vulgar language in Bulletstorm, others have made complaints without realising that all of it can actually be toned down.

The issue actually comes due to a slight design choice (or even possible flaw) that managed to even confuse the games lead director, when I told him via Twitter that I couldn’t find the options, saying:

“I couldnt find the swearing on/off function in Bulletstorm at a glance. Only volume levels in audio and subtitles in game.”

To which he replied saying:

“Can’t remember which option that is, but it’s there. Not Audio submenu affair.”

Intrigued that not even he knew where the options were off the top of his head, I headed back to the consoles to get to the bottom of it. It turns out that the confusions comes in due to the fact that the option for the mature language and gore only make an appearance in the game sub-menu when it is accessed from Bulletstorm’s main menu.

Accessing the same menu from the pause screen whilst playing the game doesn’t show those additional options. With most gamers hearing or seeing something they don’t like while playing, it becomes easy to see how they would pause the game and then assume that there are no options when they find nothing within the game’s menus.

In order for anyone to actually switch the content off, they will need to quit back to the main menu, uncheck the boxes and then load back into their game.

There you go folks, list done. Remember that with great power comes great responsibility , so use this information wisely or Uncle Ben will surely die.
