Incredible evolution of the Xbox and PS controllers

There’s no doubting that the controllers from both the PlayStation family and Xbox family have changed over the years, more so the Xbox family however did you ever notice that the spacing and size of the PlayStation buttons hasn’t changed in twenty years?

Check out these incredible gif’s courtesy of Gadgetlove to see how each controller has changed.

First up we have the PlayStation family.

Just look how those buttons keep the same distance between each other over the course of generations.. so weird.

And then we have the Xbox family, man I miss that first controller. I think I was one of the only people on the planet who liked it though.

Also do you remember those extra two buttons the Xbox used to have that just disappeared when the Xbox 360 was released… I used to use those all the time in Dead or Alive.

It’s quite the evolution for the Xbox controller… the Playstation one stayed pretty much the same, shape, button spacing, etc.

I dig seeing things like this, it’s really cool

How do I slow it down! Very interesting how the Xbox controller seems to have evolved/changed a lot more.

IMO, the Xbox has always had a better controller than the Playstation, the Dualshock 1, 2 and 3 was an awful design. The new PS4 controller is not bad, but not near the Xbox One controller….

Ok cool, so its not my imagination that all the PS controllers look the same 🙂 (PS4 is a slight exception)
