Going into AAA game release time, some of the indies can get lost in the shuffle. But not if I have anything to say about it! Here’s all the indie news you need to know for the past week.
First up, we have this hilarious video from Mike Bithell to announce that Thomas Was Alone is coming to PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. You guys already know that I adore Mike and his game, and I love that his launch on more platforms is just using #Mike – far too funny and cute.
This War of Mine is a war game that is completely different from what we’ve seen before in gaming. Instead of playing as an elite soldier, you play as a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city. By day, snipers keep you from going outside, so you must spend time on maintaining your hideout, while at night you can scavenge nearby for things to help you survive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them to endure the hardships. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.
The game is launching soon on Steam for PC, Mac and Linux. Here’s the pretty trailer.
TinyKeep is a top-down procedurally generated dungeon escape game with permadeath. It has just launched on Steam and is 34% off at the moment. With three different endings, this isn’t your typical rogue-like experience.
As for bundles, there’s the Breakthrough bundle at Bundle Stars – it’s a bundle of only Early Access games, so you can be the first. The Humble Bundle also features games like Thomas Was Alone and Surgeon Simulator – if you don’t have these yet, you really could do worse things than pick this up. Also, I hate looking at all these awesome bundles because now I’m going to have to throw money at the Humble Comics Bundle. Too good to pass up!
