You can always rely on the internet to lose its marbles over…something. Case in point? Far Cry 5, a game which apparently has you facing off against the Waco-iest of enemies in the heartland of America. A move which apparently has already riled up people who don’t take too kindly to the idea of shooting digital reconstructions of their countrymen, even if they are possibly vile, sick and represent the worst that a nation has to offer.
That’s what the internet is for, as screaming into the void of chat rooms and comment sections behind the veil of anonymity has resulted the following priceless gems of stupidity long before Far Cry 5 has even been properly revealed. Here’s a selection of choice comments from redditor SS_Downboat (Also thanks to NXTRMS for tweeting this link):
“The villain is gonna be like “Have I ever told you the definition of white male privilege?”. this game has been brought to you by the SJW association.”
“Let me guess….The game’s story is where you get kidnapped by religious hypocritical rednecks who make Christians look bad, while also shoving some political crap agenda making negative nods to Trump ’cause that’s the popular thing to do….”
“Christians might be the most persecuted religious group in the world, statistically speaking, but they also don’t bomb your offices if you criticize them, so i guess i can understand why Ubisoft made a game about eeeeevil Christians instead of, i dunno, some other religious group that has a massive armed presence which controls and terrorizes large parts of the world”
“We’re pussies so we’re not gonna make a game about radical Islam so…let’s just make fun of Christians.”
“Lord this better not be an anti-Christian game”
Nothing like the alt-left Frenchies making a game that villianizes the alt-right
“This stuff is played out and getting obnoxious”
My favourite are the responses to one of the comments above (Thanks Cavie!):
This is *EXACTLY* why I’m perfectly fine with all of this Far Cry 5 drama. You can’t go “it’s just a game” here then get upset there. pic.twitter.com/cI2dl9mzp5

Meanwhile, Ubisoft’s Twitter has also had some silliness flung its way:
@Ubisoft @FarCrygame This better not be some Right Wing fringe/cult shit. If so will be the first Fry Cry I’ll pass on. Don’t need my games push agendas on me.

Bear in mind, this is just a vocal few so far and I freakin’ love it. Hopefully more people get their underwear in a knot over the direction that Far Cry 5 is taking with its themes, environments and antagonists. The proper reveal for Far Cry 5 hits tomorrow, for what could very much be a cult classic game when it hits shelves later this year.

Pfffftt why are these oversensitive snowflake noobs overreacting like this? Ubisoft isn’t Bioware… Only Bioware tries to hammer social justice tripe into a small cup with an industrial excavator.
I trust Ubisoft’s artistic vision! FarCry 5 is going to be awesome!!

That’s a federal building not Ubisoft’s? I’m sure that was what was meant by blowing up buildings.

I remember watching documentaries on this. So much evidence pointed to it being an “inside job”, a la 9/11.
It was used an an example of an attack on US soil where more of the US Citizens right were taken away from them in the name of “freedom”.
But that’s going into conspiracy theory shit.
Which means it MUST be true!!

AFAIK a Ubisoft building have never been bombed or attempt have been made to bomb it
Pretty sure the person was referring to extremist muslims bombings and attacks.
The picture I posted was from the Oklahoma bombing carried out by extremist christian anti-government nut with the support of his group

An unfortunate incident to be sure. Crazy people exist everywhere but this building wasn’t destroyed and people killed because of some holy war that’s been raging for a single religion for thousands of years…just a thought.

Apparently Ubisoft does not know that there is only one possible way to check who is a terrorist.

lol, are we seeing Ubisoft’s attempt at manufactured controversy (like when EA tried to promote Dante’s Inferno as being satanic.. .complete with “Christians” protesting)? The warning signs went off for me when I realised that Polygon and the Verge (loltaku 2) were the first to run with the narrative that the villains were a bunch of flag-waving religious white American nationalists or Republican-types. Of course, no true patriot would ever replace the US flag or alter it. The church doesn’t even display a christian cross (nor is it an IRON CROSS, Chris Plante, you monumental panty-wearing retard). It’s clearly a cult logo, therefore this group is probably just a personality cult that uses nationalism and religion to futher their goals, rather than brave Trump supporters battling the Social Marxists or the mentally insane Antifa scum.
Obviously, the subtle symbolism would have gone over the heads of the SJWs at Polygon and the Verge, and they played right into Ubisoft’s hands.
Well played Ubisoft! I tip my hat to your marketing department!

I don’t write off of them a personality cult just yet, namely because they actually may have a point like Pagan had.

You know, when I see a new game coming out, I usually don’t get excited for it because of the fact that you can kill a certain race, religion or political group. The spitefulness and glee I’m getting out of some of these comments is disturbing, but each to their own hey.
I’m personally excited for this game because it looks like a new and fresh location and plot line. NOT because I’ll get a chance to kill some Christians (keep in mind, this isn’t the first game where the antagonist will be Christian zealots).

This is flipping hilarious. I love watching people freak out like this.
I remember how people including writers on this website had a little freak out over Hatred.
Totally blown out of proportion.
While people including myself laugh at people raging. Dont get mad when people laugh at your outrage over what they perceive as stupidity. aka “Hitman killing woman because its encouraged”
Bring on the tears, full my cup of kek.
It was the left first, now its the Right.
Is this just an eternal flow of tears?

Why is everyone so goddamn offended all the time?
Far Cry is about killing bad people who are doing bad shit. The cults and nationalities are filling in context, not pushing ideology.
