The Wastelands of the post-apocalyptic Fallout universe is one of my very favourite game settings; there’s so much character in such a barren place. I am, naturally, beyond excited for the prospect of a next-generation Fallout 4. It could be happening.
thesurvivor2299.com showed up on he internet this week, and according to internet registrar Whois.com, the thing was registered by Zenimax, Bethesda’s parent company.
“The Survivor” certainly sounds very Fallout-y, and the 2299 date makes it seem plausible. The site is little more than a countdown timer and some morse code. The timer itself ends on 10 December, and some clever people who understand those beeps have decided it means 11.12.13 – which could well be the eleventh of December 2013. US folks, however, usually use the mm/dd/yy format though – which makes that even more confusing and likely to be fake.
There’s more to point to it not being real though, unfortunately. Bethesda has never used GoDaddy to register its domains before, opting instead for Corporate Domains, Inc for its registering purposes. Reddit is all over this.
If it Is Fallout, I would be quite tickled – but don’t get your hopes up just yet.
