Halo4Tourney

Tomorrow sees the release of the Halo 4, arguably the biggest game for the Xbox 360 this year. According to reviews, it’s easily one of the best games this year, and quite possibly the best game in the Halo series to date – something that should make Microsoft’s dedicated Halo studio  343 Industries pretty happy.

With that, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that you’re pretty much running out of time to enter Microsoft SA’s huge Halo 4 tournament; where the prize is a trip for you (or you and your team) to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany next year. Gamescom, in my humble opinion, is the best of the annual expos; because it’s pen to the public it’s focused more on fun than the business side of videogames. Plus, you get to drink lots of Kolsch.

You can enter for either solo or team play – but you’d better hurry, because the last day for entries is Wednesday. Like any big competition, there are of course Terms and conditions that you’ll need to adhere to…here they are:

  • I am 18 years of age or older.
  • I am aware that I will need to own a copy of Halo 4 to play in the tournament
  • I am a South African Citizen.
  • I have in my possession a valid South African/Other Passport.
  • An Xbox Live – Gold subscription to play in online games.
  • I will need to have an ADSL line to connect to tournament games.
  • I have read and understand the Tournament Terms & Conditions

Clan Play

To enter the clan tournament you will need to have the following:

  • A team captain, the captain is responsible for managing the team profile.
  • A valid email address & Cell number, as all contact during the competition will be sent to the captain’s email address.
  • A team name.
  • Know all your team members’ Xbox live Gamertags.
  • Notify all your team members that they will need to own a copy of Halo 4 from 6 November 2012.

Lone Wolf

To enter as a lone wolf you need to have the following:

  • Xbox live gamertag.
  • Own a Copy of Halo 4 from 6 November 2012.
  • A valid email address and cell phone number, all contact during the competition will be sent to this email account.
  • I will be responsible for managing my tournament profile through this portal.

If you’ve got, or will be getting Halo 4, live in south Africa and meet the rest of the requirements, I implore you enter. We often complain about not being taken seriously as region when it comes to gaming – but when big, officially sanctioned  tournaments like this come along nobody enters, creating a perpetual, viscous circle.

I suck at Halo..and most games, but I’ve entered as a lone wolf, just to show some support. You should too.

Enter here.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
