Just Cause 2 happens to be a guilty pleasure game of mine. It’s massive, open and just begging for players to find new ways to combine grappling hooks with vehicles and explosives, and throw it at a soldier. Still, the game had several shortcomings, which gave the experience a slightly sour taste overall. But then some smart people came up with a way to make Just Cause 2 relevant, and brilliant, all over again. By adding multiplayer to it.
A public beta for the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod was held last week, an event which has basically ended now. The mod takes the entire island nation of Panua, and hosts not just a few players, not just tens of them, but hundreds! Over the course of the beta, there were over a thousand people playing.
And for those of you who haven’t played the game, that’s an experience which contains so many bullets, explosions and crashes, that the scale of it can only be measured in excited Michael Bays.
Hot damn, do I wish that I had a decent gaming PC right now. Maybe in Just Cause 3, we can get some unlimited multiplayer mayhem, hmmm Square Enix?
