Max Payne 3 Multiplayer–How will it work?

So I was in London earlier this month for an awesome hands on event with Max Payne 3’s single player campaign. Head here to read my feelings about that portion now.

But while I was there I managed to have a quick chat around the multiplayer section of the game.

Unfortunately the true mechanics and gameplay are still being kept under wraps but I was told that the Max Payne 3 bullet time and slow mo diving are in the multiplayer.

It’s apparently powered by pure magic and the way it works is that if you go into bullet time then everyone in your eye line is slowed down and anyone in their eye line is slowed down as well which causes a chain reaction across the map.

How this is going to play out is anyone’s guess but I’m really looking forward to seeing how this mechanic works. It could be incredible with you being slowed down just as you round the corner as someone has spotted you who is currently under the spell of bullet time.

Then as the original guy turns his head the entire maps rushes back up to speed.

It’s either going to be revolutionary or an utter disaster and that excites me, Max Payne 3 is (likely) going to be good enough to stand on it’s own as a single player campaign and therefore Rockstar are going to have a bit of freedom to push the envelope when it comes to the multiplayer ability.
