Metal Gear Solid 4 frame rate unstable

52 second read

Yes it is still in pre-release so all these things can still be fixed. However I do find it a bit worrying when a AAA exclusive game is struggling to hold its framerate in a demonstration.

When the on-screen visuals held less action and focused on nearby buildings the action locked at 60 frames per second. However, when bullet fire, grenades, smoke, and debris filtered the screen, the action fell to 30 frames per second.

You could say that since it is more of a stealth game the framerate issue is a non entity but to be honest, that is just talking around an issue.

Lets hope Konami sort this out before release. It is expected to be released in Q2 (April-June)….

I for one welcome our future robotic overlords

  • JimBob

If they can’t get it running 60 frames per second, they’ll probably just lock the framerate at 30 frames per second, just like UT3 and GeOW. Games running at more than 30 FPS seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

  • PillsburyDeeBoy

Games running at 60fps do look way better than games at 30fps – COD4 is testament to that. Having said that, though, JimBob has a point with it being the exception and not the rule. Lastly, Lazy, just let it go, friend. Don’t will Metal Gear to be bad. It’ll be ready, promise ๐Ÿ™‚ . Just start saving up for that PS3 already. Tell your kids their nappy supply is being halved so they gotta choose wisely when they need to go ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

  • LazySAGamer

lol I don’t want it to be bad, I want it to be awesome and on the 360 ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is a small issue for someone like Kojima. It will be fixed.
