BuzzCity, a global media company, has just posted their June results and things are looking really good for us locally.
In May 2010 they managed to get 142 688 titles downloaded to phones locally but thanks in part to the World Cup this number exploded to 656 641 downloads in the month of June.
I have to admit I am pretty blown away by the fact that South Africans downloaded over half a million titles in a single month, those are some seriously huge numbers.
It’s not surprising to see that the top categories locally was sports with 40% of all downloads falling into that distantly followed by Movies & TV (20%) and Arcade (10%).
The top handhelds used in these downloads were Nokia (32%), Samsung (13%) and Sony Ericsson (10%).
We don’t have the top 10 breakdown only for South Africa but here are the top 10 titles from BuzzCity worldwide for the month of June.
- Fatal First – 531,016
- 4×4 Extreme Rally – 365,145
- Ben 10: Battle for the Omnitrix – 304,431
