Modern Warfare’s 725 “Snipershotty” shotgun is probably getting nerfed soon

While I’ve not had as much time to spend playing this year’s Call of Duty as I’d like, it’s a pretty damned good game. The single-player, while having a bit of a jingoist, hokey story, tells that story exceptionally well, The multiplayer has – mostly – gone down exceptionally well, bringing new and lapsed players back to Call of Duty.

As far as multiplayer goes, there have been a few fair complaints. One of the most complained about elements from players is that two weapons are a little on the overpowered side. One of those is the M4A1 rifle that operates like a laser canon with no recoil. The other is the 725 Shotgun, which I’ve affectionately dubbed the Snipershotty; a gun that players have either fallen in love with, or complained about. With its unfathomable range paired with incredible damage, it’s definitely overpowered.

Not for long though. The next update is one that’s going to focus on a bit of weapon tuning, according to Infinity Ward multiplayer director Joe Cecot. And it’ll be coming in the next few days if Infinity Ward communications manager Ashton Williams is to be believed.

The new update will also do some bug fixing for Spec Ops. For many, this year’s Call of Duty is a return to form for a franchise that, while it’s never really withered, has lost older fans. This soft reboot’s done well to bring them back, with many who haven’t bought a Call of Duty in years returning to find that war never really changes. It’s a damned good game though, as we said in our review:

“A stacked package of single-player and multiplayer offerings, Call of Duty Modern Warfare may not hit every mark that it fires but this ballsy reinvention of the franchise is still the blockbuster benchmark that is thrilling, thoughtful and terrific.”

All the kids who have a false sense of worth are going to have a emotional reckoning, once they realize their skill has been propped up by some disproportionately OP weapons and claymores. They may actually have to rely on skill..

Apparently, camping is mandatory, unless you enjoy dying
