Motion capture for inFamous: Look at all those dots!

2 min read

I loved inFamous 2. I played it a few years after its release and all the initial hype (thanks, PlayStation Plus!) and while the game certainly had issues, the single aspect of it that kept me playing was the damned incredible characterisation and voice acting. It looks like PS4 game inFamous: Second Son will do it even better.

For one, look at all those dots they;re using for motion capture! sure, it’s the old way of doing facial capture, but it works. More importantly, the game will feature Troy Baker. Yes, the guy who’s becoming more prolific than Nolan North when it comes to videogame voices. Most recently, he’s been Joel in The Last of Us, and was Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite – and he’ll be filling in Mark Hamill’s very large shoes as The Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins.

Geoffrey Tim

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
