MTV Secures The Beatles for Rock Band?

beatles MTV is preparing a major announcement this morning involving an unprecedented partnership to develop a global music project with Apple Corps Ltd. (not the iPod guys, but the multimedia corporation founded by the Beatles). Nobody knows for sure what they’re planning to reveal, but considering the parties involved and their history, we can probably come up with a pretty decent guess: The Beatles may very well be coming to Rock Band.

It’s been rumored for a while now that the Beatles’ representatives have been negotiating with both Rock Band’s benefactors at MTV and Guitar Hero publisher Activision Blizzard, but it sounds like MTV might have finally sealed the deal. Adding even more credence to these rumors is the Wall Street Journal, who are already reporting that — according to their unnamed sources — arrangements have been made to bring the band’s music to the popular rhythm game. Whether this manifests itself as a standalone disc or DLC, locking up any sort of licensing with the Beatles would be a major win for Rock Band, as the legendary band has yet to even release their songs on iTunes.

With Microsoft officialy announcing that Rock Band 2 will be exclusive to Xbox 360 for the first month and the Rockband release date being etched in stone as the 14th of November, if you have a PS3 you’ll have to wait till christmas, but if you have a Xbox 360 the biggest gift you could get yourself is the Guitar Hero World tour super bundle and a stand alone copy of Rock band 2.
