Take-Two has announced that it’s genre busting western, Red Dead Redemption, has sold 6.9 million copies. That’s a whole lot of John Marston and a great reward for Rockstar and Take-Two on what is undoubtedly a contender for 2010 game of the year.
What really makes this special for Take-Two is that RDR had a lot of negative press in the run up to its release with a lot of people really being entirely uninterested in the title. However all that changed when people had some hands on time.
With more DLC planned for the coming months and with the story line of Red Dead Redemption being perfect for part time gamers I expect sales to surge again and wouldn’t be surprised to see it top 10 million in the early part of next year.
I know for sure that I am getting my dad a copy for Christmas as he plays far to many FPS’s and this will hopefully open him up to an entirely new genre.

It was rumoured to be coming to the PC but I haven’t heard anything more about that since RDR was released… if it’s happening soon they are keeping quite about it
