New Call of Duty is codenamed Blacksmith, announced next month

I'm a blacksmith and I'm okay

Quick hold the front page there is some breaking news landing. According to an anonymous insider on neogaf the next Call of Duty will be revealed next month and it is currently going by the code name Blacksmith.

Obviously this is not really news, the next Call of Duty game is always announced in May with a multiplayer reveal in August. Every year they break the billion dollar mark so don’t expect anything to change this year.

Last years Call of Duty: Ghosts had a codename of Titan so I wouldn’t really look into the name much. I can only guess it’s related to the fact that Sledgehammer are making this game so it fits nicely.

But we’ve had some internal discussions around the game and I think this graphic perfectly explains everything we came up with.

codfans

According to the readers on Neogaf the expectation is that this years Call of Duty is going to be the next, and last, iteration of the Modern Warfare series which is exactly what the fans have been asking for so that’s an easy grand slam.

It also goes without saying that the game will be targeting the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and then porting down to the last generation consoles. It will be interesting to see how much effort has been put into the graphics compared to the gameplay.

And now for the legions of Call of Duty haters this is great news. Now instead of raging about how bad Call of Duty: Ghosts is you can now move on and start preparing to tell everyone how terrible Blacksmith is going to be.

I mean all those guns and that same gameplay and baysplosion filled single player. I don’t know what’s more depressing the fact that you feel the need to whine about it being the same every year or the fact that you use the same whining every year.

At least a new studio gets a crack at the franchise, we might get a surprise or two.

Yeah, but it’s hard to shake the stigma on the COD name.

I will dissagree with you here. I loved Blops 2, it was smooth and the maps were fun. Ghosts on the other hand is horribly optimised, lags on my pc and unbalanced.
Watch Dogs on the other hand is something I am super amped for!!

We gave up on CoD when they removed the simple little LAN function. Mind you, lots of games have started removing that, so we play mostly old games when we get together – CoD4, UT2004, Warcraft3, Sins of a Solar Empire, Dawn of War 1, SWAT, Rainbow 6. CoD4 was FRESH with new ideas when it came out. After that, not so much (and no LAN)
