Nintendo 3DS pricing revealed… for Australia

Nintendo Australia have started shipping 3DS demo units to the stores and more interestingly they have also announced the pricing of the upcoming mega handheld.

If you want to get your hands on a Nintendo 3DS in Australia at launch it is going to cost you AUD$349.95 or in real terms R2 564.

Prices in Australia are generally more expensive so we can hope for a slightly lower price if Core continues it’s recent aggressive pricing policy but then again these prices may be set by Nintendo international.

I have asked Core to confirm either way and will update if we get a response but for now can we justify spending R2 500 on a handheld?

I know I really want one and being slightly addicted to new stuff I will most probably pick one up anyway but I think that price is going to be pricing themselves out of the mainstream market and they could struggle to get market traction.

In related news Nintendo have also announced that they will be releasing 30 3DS title in the launch windows which could possibly be the biggest launch catalogue ever assembled.
