Of course Far Cry 4’s coming

too awesome to not reuse

Far Cry 3 dispensed with all of the annoying nonsense from Far Cry 2, put the whole thing back on a tropical island and added more than the healthy dose of insanity. It was also rather good, and managed to perform well enough at retail to warrant a sequel.

Ubisoft’s senior vice president of marketing and sales Tony Key has revealed to Gamespot that the success of Far Cry 3 has ensured that the balmy open-world shooter will be getting a sequel – and that Ubisoft will be sharing details soon.

“We’re totally psyched from [Far Cry 3]. It’s a great brand, and now it’s got the recognition it deserves, so we’re clearly going to make another one: more on that soon.”

I enjoyed Far Cry 3 far more than I had expected to, and I’m not sure Ubisoft can really top the game. One of the reasons it was so memorable was, of course, the character Vaas, so incredibly captured by the talented and spirited Michael Mando. It’s going to take something quite special to match that.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
