Pachter doesn’t believe the 4.1 million figure, puts move sales closer to 2.5 million

According to the industry sales guru, Michael Pachter, when Sony said they had sold 4.1 million Move units they had really meant to say they had shipped 4.1 million units to retailers and had only sold 2.5 million to clients.

His figures are coming from the now super secret NPD results and extrapolated from Europe and Japan.

If he is correct then the Move sales are exactly on par with the Kinect sales but in reality it will be falling behind as it’s been on the market longer and each user can easily be buying more than 1 Move device.

So 2.5 million Kinects means that a developer has a user base of 2.5 million users but 2.5 million Move’s could mean the actual base is closer to 1.2 million users.

The Pach has been proven wrong before though so take this with a pinch of salt for now.

True VGC factors the sale ratio as 1.55 move controllers per person which would put the number of actual moves controllers sold per unique user at 1.6 million to date. To add to that this amount does not include the PS Eye and sub controller. mind you Nintendo has sold more than 180 million Wiimotes, consoles not included.

The Pach is like that dodgy bergie (homeless guy) who stands outside a Solly Kramer (Liquor store) and tells you that if you don’t give him a few coins (presumably for his tik/meth, methylated spirits, glue or alcohol addiction), Jesus will personally throw you in hell.

Sony should come out and tell us the Real Sold to CUSTOMERS numbers. And while they’re at it, PS Plus numbers too
