Just-one-look

Want to know how big Pokémon is around the world? Well here’s a number that will get your head spinning: According to Nintendo, over 90 million Pokémon have been traded so far. That’s a damn big record for the franchise, and one that will probably stretch to a 100 million soon. And to get the ball rolling, Nintendo is offering an incentive.

As soon as the counter ticks over to 100 million traded Pokémon, a brand new variant of Vivillon will be offered to players. For those of you who aren’t aware, Vivillon is the final form of Spewpa, and depending on your region, it evolves into a form that has a region specific pattern on its wings. So, more than one look then.

Here’s how it will all happen, according to Nintendo:

Now, an additional pattern of Vivillon has been discovered that breaks with tradition. To celebrate the 100 million Pokémon traded via the GTS, the Fancy Pattern Vivillon will soon be available! Currently, about 90 million Pokémon have been traded worldwide. Once we reach 100 million, you’ll be able to receive Fancy Pattern Vivillon via a special distribution event. So we’re calling on everyone to keep trading so we hit that huge milestone! Once the goal is reached, check back at Pokémon.com to find out how to get the Fancy Pattern Vivillon into your Pokémon X or Pokémon Y game.

Do I want this fancy render of a Pokemon that I already have several versions of? Yes, yes I do, shut up dammit. And start trading with me. If you have a Xerneas, I have a highly sought-after Bidoof that needs a good home.

  1. Admit it Darryn, you’re just making those names up. Or I’m a floopygoop.

You’ll always be a Bloodfart to me, the same way that Geoff is a Trouserwaffle.
