Polyphony Digital still working on GT5 having a stable framerate

1 min read

Polyphony Digital boss, Kaz Yamauchi, has stated in the latest version of the PSM3 magazine that GT5 may at times drop below the promised 60fps and for that he begs your forgiveness.

Now I’m not a GT fan at all so I can’t say for sure if it’s important that the framerate drops in certain circumstances but that’s not what worries me about this.

The thing that jumps out the page to me is when he states the following

“Our engineers complain every day: ‘Isn’t it enough that it’s in 1080p? Does it have to be 60fps too?’ But I think 60fps is very important, so we’re working towards perfecting that.”

Now wasn’t GT5 meant to be completed already with just a minor technical issue that was still outstanding, the rumour being that the delay was purely down to a change in firmware?

We are still being told to expect GT5 before Christmas but on the recent PS3 IGN podcast the guys weren’t confident that it would arrive in time and if they are still working on issues like this I would have to agree with them.

GT5 in February 2011 maybe?
