Portal 1/5 as likely to crash on a Mac compared to a PC

Steam on the Mac is possibly the greatest application ever available to the army of Mac users around the planet.

The only thing missing from the overpriced, uber cool, white boxes is the ability to play a reasonable selection of games and now that Steam has arrived they can finally start their march to world domination. Which will hopefully start with a price slash?

Valve has released some figures from it’s first few weeks of being available on the Mac and so far it’s doing very well. 11% of all applications are now purchased by Mac users (could be wildly over pronounced the mark thanks to the free Portal offer). Also 2 out of 3 macs are laptops and most importantly Portal on the Mac is one fifth as likely to crash as it is on the PC and that’s with it running on the exact same codebase.

I would like to take this moment to point out that Portal on my Xbox 360 never crashed…

I’d love to get myself a Mac but seriously have you seen the price of those things and then I would still need a PC to run my development applications so it’s just not worth it.
