IGN has done an intensive preview of the newly announced PS3 Home ability…
It seems like an entire game all to itself, you get to customise your avator completely and then you get given an apartment that you setup just the way you want it. You can even upload your own personal images to use as pictures on the walls or even as wallpaper.
You can then wander around this virtual world meeting and interacting with other online PS3 avators… There is a ton of places to take your avator to including games rooms and my personal favourite. The Trophy Room.
The trophy room is where you will see all your
achievements milestones that you accomplished on your PS3… It is all completely 3D and graphical and you can even walk into a side room and see all the trophy’s that you are still trying to access….
It’s all free as well which is never a bad thing… How much bandwidth is this going to take though?
We learned that it will appear in beta form sometime next month (April), with a finished version available for everyone ready to go this fall. Personally, I can’t wait to see more of it. I can’t recall having seen application with this much potential for any videogame system prior — and after all the questions and criticisms that Sony has been hit with since November, it’s good to see that it still has tricks up its sleeves, and finally explained what that “Home” button on your Sixaxis controller really does.
