PS3 Supply Tight?

According to Sony they’ve sold so many gosh-darned Ps3’s lately that they’re becoming dangerously close to running out. Following on the heels of their impressive January NPD numbers, Patrick Seybold said that Sony was doing their best to ensure demands are met – but that the once struggling machine is now the console du’jour.

This is of course a very real shortage, and not an attempt to influence the market.

“We’re working very hard with our retail partners to meet consumer interest, but the demand is tremendously high for the PS3 and we expect tight inventory in the coming months,” warns Seybold. “… The strong demand carrying through the holidays was evident and early in the month we [knew] there was going to be limited supply of the PS3 at retail in January. We’re working closely with the retail channel to meet this demand, but expect tight supply for the coming months.”

There you go folks. If you want to play heavy hitting PS3 exclusive games like Heavy Rain and God of War III, you’d best go out and get yourself a PS3 right now. If you’re waiting for Gran Turismo 5 though, I’m pretty sure they’ll be in plentiful supply in 2037.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
