Rant: Medal of Honor advertising campaign

So earlier today I saw this post on Kotaku where Kirk Hamilton takes offence to the marketing campaign for Medal of Honor, more accurately he takes offence to the Linkin Park song made to help sell the game that cashes in on war and the losing of fathers.

I personally find it a little distasteful, especially the part where they are now saying they will donate a percentage of sales profit to a charity that supports veterans. Yeah it sounds great right off the bat but in reality they are simply using injured soldiers to sell games and make a profit.

It’s pretty low and that is enough to get riled up about but honestly I don’t really care. It’s not my war or my veterans and EA can do whatever they please with their own money.

What they cannot do however is interfere with my language and take quotes from my hero’s and kinsman and sully them.

At the end of the video they have picked a quote from Winston Churchill, one of the worlds best orators and it goes as follows

All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: Freedom, Justice, Honor, Duty, Mercy, Hope

My body physically cringes, the Americans can spell Honour anyway they want but when you are quoting an Englishmen you spell it properly.

And that is what got my blood boiling today… end rant.

Oh here’s the video I’m talking about, I really like the song.
