Well that was surprising. This year’s E3 may have been a show of zero surprises, but that doesn’t mean that the games on offer weren’t solid. With Anthem, Spider-Man and a new Ori game on the horizon, the selection this year for the best games of E3 were definitely more rounded out than Solid Snake’s butt in Super Smash Bros.

Out of all the games that were eligible for the top honour, it was a game that was already twenty years old that came out swinging and emerged victorious. Granted, Resident Evil 2’s upcoming remake is a massive retweaking of the original with all the bells and whistles, but you get what I’m saying. Sweeping the biggest award possible from those jerks who won’t let us into their No Critical Hits allowed club, Resident Evil 2 had to contend with several other big games along the way.

Here’s the list then, of who also earned some award show love from the critics:

Agree? Disagree over the fact that Ori And The Will Of The Wisps didn’t win the top spot? You’re damn right it’s a travesty. Damn right, son.

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
