Games get quite a bit of flak these days for being short on single-player, and heavy on the online component. People bemoan the fact that stories are becoming shorter, predicatble and over before its even begun.

One such game that is bucking that trend? Resident Evil 6 apparently.

Speaking to the Playstation Blog, game producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi estimated that each of the three storylines in the game “is probably around 70 per cent to 80 per cent of the volume of the whole game in Resident Evil 5”.

Resident Evil 6 is more than twice the length of its not-exactly-brief predecessor, judging by comments from producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.

So with three separate storylines, there’s plenty to play here.

That’s quite a bit of content then, if the producer isn’t exaggerating. The game will focus on Leon Kennedy and his new partner Helena Harper, Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin and Chris Redfield and Tony Ponce, as they take on a global attack of the undead.

Quality over quantity? Who knows, but we’ll at least get our moneys worth when the game launches in October this year.
