Rockstar job listing suggests GTA V PC port

1 min read

A Rockstar Leeds job posting has been spotted, hinting at Grant Theft Auto V coming to PC after all.

The job opening appeared online just this week, looking for a graphics programmer.

“Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform.  Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible.” It reads.

The most prominent tell however is that the studio is looking for some one who can “Work within a team of skilled developers on Next Generation games.”. Grand Theft Auto PC versions are usually released a couple of months after the console versions, which means should Rockstar release a PC port; we’ll only see it in late Q1 of 2014.

Rockstar Leeds has mainly developed GTA games for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, but was responsible for L.A Noire’s release on PC in 2011. If all this is anything to go by, then there is hope yet for PC gamers.

Rockstar have also confirmed via Twitter that a gameplay trailer is on the way, the image says that it will release today.

        Looks like suppressor.

Maybe they will finally port Red Dead Redemption

      • Umar Kiiroi Senk?

That would be so awesome, as the frame rate on the console version is horrible

  • Trevor Davies

We can always hope, and I expect it will eventually come to PC, but it seems like a bit much to read into a generic ad.

    It’s all about the money

  • ElimiNathan

    Good stuff

  • Port, please no, we saw what happened with the last port, do a damn proper job about creating the game for the pc platform, instead of doing a cheap arse port from a console to pc. Why the hell do you want to port anyway? It is then being developed on a pc to begin with. O.o

    • Hesperus Phosphorus

That would require far more resources than it’s actually worth for Rockstar. People who want to play GTA are going to either get it for console or go with the port since those are the only (and most cost-effective for R*) options. It’s been developed on a PC FOR consoles…I’m not a programmer but the consoles’ architectures would probably dictate how to go about much of the programming. Why waste company time and money on that when they can start with their DLC cash cows?

      • True, however in the long run this would be bad to use a port, why? Because releasing patches to fix what could’ve been done properly beforehand costs a company 10 times more than what it cost to make the game originally, this has been proved over and over again.
