TAKE THAT MARIO

It’s been long suspected that Ryu, the iconic character from Street Fighter, would make his way into Super Smash Bros. Nintendo have now confirmed his addition, along with another character – Roy from Fire Emblem, who last appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee. They’re now playable and ready for purchase, along with Lucas from the Mother series.

The announcement was made last night, along with a bunch of other Super Smash Bros news. Roy and Lucas will cost $3.99 a pop per console, or $4.99 for access on both the 3DS and Wii U. Ryu on the other hand is a little more expensive, but only because he is bundled with a brand new stage – Suzaku Castle. He will cost $5.99 per console, or $6.99 for both.

Ryu

Normally in Smash, performing a move is as simple as smacking the B button while pushing the directional pad in a certain direction. Players can do the same with Ryu, or they can input his traditional Street Fighter button commands for the same attack, albeit more powerful. I think this is something that’ll make Geoff happy for sure!

New Amiibo

Unrelated to these new characters in Super Smash Bros, but relevant to suckers like me, is the announcement of new Amiibo figures. The following will be released sometime in September:

Amiibo

That Duck Hunt Amiibo already has my money pegged. I may also consider getting Mr. Game & Watch – he comes with different, swappable poses, which is kind of awesome.

Sigh Nintendo, take my money. All of it!

It’s pretty random. I’d like to see some footage on the duo but surely they could have picked another character or better ones.
