George Hotz and his band of merry hacker douche-bags unlocked the PlayStation 3. That’s old news and since then Sony has been granted the right to issue Hotz with a restraining order. The guy is potentially in a lot of trouble.

The thing is, he is not the only one involved in this whole debacle. Sony is now planning on broadening the reach of their lawsuit, and they are targeting other hackers and prominent figures in the homebrew scene. How are they going to do that? By subpoenaing social networks and other online services!

According to court documents obtained by PSX-Scene, Sony will be going after a list of people suspected to be involved with the PS3 root kit hacking or other homebrew products designed, presumably, for Sony products. According to the documents, Sony only has a list of aliases to go on and as such they will be obtaining court subpoenas to hand over to social network sites and forums in an attempt to obtain the identity of the people behind the aliases.

So far, the list of targeted aliases include Cantero, Peter, Bushing, Segher, hermesEOL, Waninkoko, KaKaRoTo, Hermes, Kmeaw and Graf_Chokolo. Insofar as which websites will be subpoenaed for user details, those include sites like Youtube, Twitter, SlashDot, Paypal, PSX-Scene and more.
