Hey look, it’s a sensationalist anti-Sony headline, like we’re back in 2007! Don’t worry though PlayStation 3 fans…I’m not here to point and laugh at the most devout followers of the church of Sony (Like I did back when Final Fantasy XIII, Grand Theft Auto IV, Devil May Cry and Virtua Fighter jumped ship. To be fair, I poked fun at loyalist Xbots when Ninja Gaiden, Mass Effect and Castle Crashers headed for Sony’s beautiful black box) No, I’m here to spread joy!
3rd party exclusives, in this age of monumental development and marketing costs, just don’t make sense. Which is why I’m happy to report that Konami’s once PS3 exclusive Silent Hill HD Collection will be gracing the Xbox 360 as well.
Originally (and bizarrely) planned as a PlayStation exclusive, Silent Hill Collection HD bundles together Silent Hill 2 and 3 (where’s the original? Odd “Collectionâ€), with shiny new HD graphics and some all new voice-work. For those of you haven’t played it, Silent Hill 2 is just about the best survival horror game, and possibly one of the best games ever made – so it’s a good thing that more people will get to experience the psychological mindf*ckery These games will give.
The reason Konami back-tracked on exclusivity is down, they say, to fan response. Huzzah!
Silent Hill HD Collection should release simultaneously on both platforms in late September or early October.
