Sony secures ad deal with EA Games

DUALSHOCK 3

An in-game advertising firm called IGA has helped to seal a deal between two of the major gaming companies in the world.

Sony Entertainment and EA Sports have agreed terms on what must be a huge advertsing deal, basically what it means is that in the next iteration of Madden NFL, NBA, NASCAR, NHL, Need for Speed and Burnout we are going to see time senstive advertising of Sony products.

So if Sony feels like going on a marketing blitz for a new MGS4 promotion we are going to start seeing Solid Snake on the billboards with valid prices and the lot..

Now I know that a lot of people are unhappy about in game advertising but I personally think it adds to the realism of the game and fully support it, as long as it stays on the billboards and the like…

So I wonder what Microsoft are going to think about this with one of their biggest sellers, Madden, being plastered in PS3 adverts…

I also think ingame adds are cool. As long as it’s not overdone and in your face the whole time. Wonder if you’ll be able to download Killzone 2 videos in a internet café in GTA4?

Look at GTA4, that TV video camera used shown in some of the earlier cut scenes is labeled “Panaramic” with some cheapish logo. Would’ve been a lot better if it was labeled Panasonic, the real thing.

This is great news, should see an increase in the quality of games produced by EA for the PS3! Wouldnt surprise me if the PS3 became the lead development platform for future EA Sports titles. NICE!

I would rather have a variety of companies advertise than to have only one company that will eventually charge a ridiculous price for their goods 😡
