Sony turns the shrinking ray back on, shaves another 200g of the PS3

CECH 2100

Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird that Sony just keeps on changing the PS3?

Maybe the Xbox 360 and Wii have been losing weight over the past couple of years and no one has really cared but the PS3 is in a class of it’s own when it comes to being ‘The Biggest Loser’*

Not content with it’s huge weight loss last year the techies at Sony HQ have wheeled the shrinking ray back out and targeted the PS3 once more shedding a not so miserly 200g without seeming to affect any of the PS3’s ability.

The new CECH-2100 looks just like the CECH-2000 above but is just easier for your psycho girlfriend to hurl across the room.

Retailers are expecting to receive the new byte sized stock from about March or pretty much as our stocks start depleting.

[Thanks Scot for the tip]

*That’s a reference to a TV show and not some underhanded comment about the PS3’s ability.

I’m still amazed how Sony are constantly putting development money into making this thing as small and as efficient as possible. I guess since they are likely selling it as a loss still it’s in there best interest but isn’t that true for the Wii and X360?

I wonder if MS launched a X360 how well it would do? Would consumers wait a couple months just to make sure MS did it right?

How much cheaper do you want the PS3 to go lol i think R3200 is a brilliant price, compared to a Xbox 120GB

I would like to see the console at R2999 next year but I think it’ll only get down to R3199 ($250).

Price cut?? Are you kidding me? its almost half the price it used to be, almost matching the 360, only with hi-def movie capabilities…anyone that doesnt want to pay the asking price, doesnt deserve it.

Dude did you look at the dates…

I think it’ll be a great idea to cut the price. The PS3 is almost 4 years old. Also MS is releasing some very appealing tech to the world so they need something to keep the heat up.
