Sony’s PlayStation store’s got ads now, too

2 min read

PlayStation fans are quick to point out that even though their online service is free, it isn’t plastered with ads. That looks like it could be changing.

This tweet by ‘s Robert Goode clearly shows a pretty offensive and large interstitial advert on the PSN store. I logged in to my own US PSN account and hit the store, and yup – it’s right there, and it’s forced. You have to go through the advert to get to the game’s section.

Thankfully, it’s wholly absent from the South African Store. For now.

It’s a far cry from the adverts we see all over the US Xbox 360 Dashboard, but it could be a sign of things to come.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
