PlayStation fans are quick to point out that even though their online service is free, it isn’t plastered with ads. That looks like it could be changing.
When did the PSN store get ads? If you squint at this picture you can see one for Axe. pic.twitter.com/zqbFEaU1AT

This tweet by CheapAssGamer.com ‘s Robert Goode clearly shows a pretty offensive and large interstitial advert on the PSN store. I logged in to my own US PSN account and hit the store, and yup – it’s right there, and it’s forced. You have to go through the advert to get to the game’s section.
Thankfully, it’s wholly absent from the South African Store. For now.
It’s a far cry from the adverts we see all over the US Xbox 360 Dashboard, but it could be a sign of things to come.

Oh, no! Is Sony trying to monetize things? How DARE they??
No one with an Xbox can say a thing about this and PS3 owners will say they don’t care as long as Sony keeps renting them games.
All in all, I never cared about ads. They’re minimal (at least on my Xbox), and the movie trailers one are cool. I actually found out about a couple of movies that I didn’t know thanks to that…
