I am sure you noticed that we were down earlier for a while.
At first it seemed to be due to a surge in real traffic but it quickly became apparent that we were under a Denial of Service attack. Thankfully they didn’t succeed for long and Lazygamer.co.za now lives on a more powerful server to try avoid a repeat.
Hopefully things will be back to normal now and the site will be faster as well which is a bonus.
Once again apologies and yes were are investigating if it had anything to do with the new price increase story 🙂

Nah not Gremlins. It was a highly unpleasant DoS attack…
Still trying to see where it came from originally but I don’t rate my chances.
More than likely just some idiotic script kiddies

I doubt it was a DDOS attack – it was probably just the traffic from N4G after the Army of Two review was linked to from there.

@Miktar, That was the first presumption but on checking the logs it was not the case… N4G only sends a few thousand hits while we were receiving 1 hit ever 4 milliseconds…
None of them had a referrer either

It’s the NIA I tell you! They heard something about South Africa and mecenaries together and tried to supress. Fight the man I tell you, Viva La Resi… viva la Gears of War! 😉
