Splatoon is steadily adding more and more content to help appease fans over its rather barebones launch, and so far it’s been working quite well.
Apart from regular new map updates and entirely new modes to engage in inky warfare with, Splatoon is busy setting up its next big community Splatfest, and it’s rather soon too.
The next big Splatfest – a community driven competition that transform the game and its city for a whole weekend – will be taking place a week from today on July 17th in North America.
The event will take place for a full 24 hours, with Team Roller Coaster and Team Water Slide opening up for players to choose from. A bit more unbiased than the Rock/Pop teams of the last Splatfest.
Also, still a serious shooter – trust me. There’s still no date for EU regions (which includes us), but if tradition stands we should be exploring a night time Inkopolis before the month ends.
As a little bit of compensation, Nintendo have revealed that a brand new map will be added to the game tonight. Moray Towers adds to the growing list of maps that Splatoon is steadily getting, and seems to be adding a large amount of verticality to the colourful shooter.
That means even more walls to swim up on, because gravity is a foreign concept to squid kids.

If you have a Wii U and still don’t have Splatoon, it’s a great time to jump on. Hell, it was great to jump on at launch, but it’s even better to see the game growing and growing week on week.
