If you’re like me, you’re probably watching the money counter on the System Shock Kickstarter steadily climb as Nightdive Studios rekindles the love of a franchise gaming nearly forgot. The original System Shock is being completely remade for a new generation, and is currently in development for PC and Xbox One. What about PS4 you ask? Well, they’re working on that.
In an update to backers CEO of Nightdive Studios, Stephen Kick, revealed that the studio is in talks with Sony about potentially bringing it to their platform. It’s unclear why the reboot is pencilled infor Xbox One already while talks with Sony have seemingly just begun, but it’s good news for any old PC fans who have made the jump to console. Or curious onlookers, who would love the chance to sample the franchise on their platform of choice.
Kick as expressed is gratitude with the thousands that have pledged their support to the project already, saying the response has been overwhelming to him and his team.
“I’m sitting at my desk after our first day of funding and I’m finding it very difficult to put into words just how grateful I am to everyone and the support they’ve given us over the last 24 hours.”
If you’re at all curious about the project, System Shock does have a PC demo up on Steam and GOG for free to download. The demo will reportedly be receiving a patch next week, which adds a little bit more content and fixes a few bugs. The Kickstarter, meanwhile, marches on – with System Shock already having $667,000 of their required $900,000 goal.
You can back the project here if you like. Or just because SHODAN told you to do it. You don’t want to make her mad now do you?
