How far would you go to secure a tour through Blizzard’s headquarters in Irvine, California? I myself would sell several kidneys and sacrifice Darryn in a heartbeat. I’m all out of kidneys though, which means I’m a little stuffed if all I have to offer is one Dork Knight. What I can do instead is quickly build a time machine, go back a year, and enter the Diablo III: Reapers of Souls Fan Art Contest, where first place includes the trip I want so much. Too bad that even if I could pull off time travel, I’d have to beat the likes of Andrey Kuzinskiy – a Russian artist with a bunch of artistic talent. His competition entry nabbed him the top spot, and as a reward, he got to spend some time with the very people that inspired his work.
First off, let’s take a look at the work of art that won him that prize. Check out this awesome Barbarian:
Yeah, there’s no way I’d be able to top that…ever! Looks like my trip to California will never happen. At least I can share Kuzinskiy’s experience somewhat thanks to a video Blizzard put together.
What an awesome prize. Security would have to check my pockets thoroughly before I left, because they would be filled with all sorts of stolen memorabilia.
If you’d like to find out more about Kuzinskiy, and his overall exeperience, you can do so right here. The page includes a nicely detailed interview of him and his creative process, as well as a bunch of photographs.
As a matter of interest, there is another contest similar to the one above taking place at the moment, except its focus is Heroes of the Storm. First prize doesn’t include a trip to Blizzard this time around I’m afraid, but it does include a $6000 prize! You can find out more about it right here. Hurry, you have less than two weeks to enter if you’re interested!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to free Darryn from the basement. Looks like there’s no need to sacrifice him after all..
