It’s been quite some time since Riot released a new champion for League of Legends. Sure, they relaunched Taric recently, but he’s just an old dog with new tricks, so he doesn’t really count. The last original character to be added to Summoner’s Rift actually was Aurelion Sol. He was unleashed upon the MOBA almost two months ago!

So yeah, a new, original champion is long overdue now. This is Riot we’re talking about though – they’ve very, very good at releasing new characters, and regularly too. Obviously they’ve been working hard on something in the interim, and that something has now been teased.

Here’s a sneak peek of the next champion coming to Summoner’s Rift. Her name is Taliyah, and she looks like she’s pretty damn proficient at earthbending.

Abilities and such have not yet been revealed, but based on the above video, it’s easy enough to guess what sort of kit Taliyah will have. Spoiler: she’s good with rocks and boulders! I’m almost certain (and certainly hope) that she’ll be capable of surfing them in-game, just as she does in her teaser cinematic. Other than that, we can only hazard what other sorts of abilities she’ll possess. Needless to say, I’m sure they’re all going to rock (I’ll show myself out).

Anyways, if you’d like to learn more about Taliyah before her inevitable release, check out her tale, ‘The Bird and the Branch’. It’s a nice slice of lore which I’m sure League of Legends fans will enjoy reading. It also features another League of Legends champion, Yasuo.

And yeah, that’s all that’s available regarding Taliyah thus far. Knowing Riot though, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out more about her. I’d be wiling to bet that we’ll see her abilities by the end of the week.
