Another huge title that is getting quite a bit of attention in Tokyo at the moment is Fable 3. I love the art style of the Fable series take a look at the new screenshots being offloaded out of TGS

And really how awesome is that rifle in the last screenshot?

first day purchase, I am more exited about fable 3 than Halo Reach. This is perhaps the one game I’ve been anticipating all year, hopefully its even better than Fable 2

It’s a Fable game, in other words, generally OK (for what it is), but if you’ve been following the hype or been listening to too many Peter Molyneux promises, you’ll be disappointed. Fable 2 was pretty mediocre, although the British humour was appealing, the childish fart jokes were not. This is not a day one purchase for me, but much like Fable 2, I’ll probably eventually get it (maybe for the PC).

For the PC? I don’t think so. Or was there an announcement I missed?

You don’t want them to release games for the PC?

Hmm, I am a huge follower on Lionheads work even before they were an MS studio. I love their work it has somthing that most big budgget titles today lack and thats personality and a very unique one at that. Its not as good as Miyamoto’s classic Zelda series but I can’t think of another console WRPG that entertains me as much.Dragon Age and Oblivion take themselves way to seriously and they take forever to play and I’ve never been into Magic the gathering and D&D so that whole Elves and Orcs thing bores the shit out of me.

I don’t know, I think Lionhead’s massively overrated (much to the same degree as Rockstar). They’ve definitely tried to create original games (and I’ll be the first to admit that), but most of the time, they’ve bitten off more than they could chew, thus resulting in relatively mediocre games. Black vs White 1 and 2, The Movies, Fable 1, Fable 2 etc. etc. I enjoyed Dungeon Keeper, but it’s not enough for me to sing Molyneux’s praises anymore.

And I’ll just add that there’s nothing wrong with mediocre games, in fact most games fit the bill regardless of inflated game review scores, but they’re hardly the second coming, people make them out to be. There are probably only two games that have really impressed me this year, and that was Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption. What’s your two exceptional titles for 2010 so far.

Im a big RPG lover and i will 100% be picking up Fable 3 day one but i sure as hell hope there are massive improvements. I found the game too easy, you basically couldnt die and the ending was such an anti-climax. I was expecting this massive battle only to be let down. I also hope all the bugs and game ending problems Fable 2 experienced will be fixed day one and we dont have to wait for patches. The same can be said for Fallout New Vegas. I hope these games are playable. These western RPG devs need to seriously take a look at their testing and quality assurance. Bioware is the only exception. Im not saying their games dont experience problems but they are usually minor and they are quick to respond.

Funny that you should say that, because I’ve always thought that had the developers of Gothic 2 and 3 focussed on dealing with all those bugs before they shipped the game, the Gothic games would have been regarded as some of best WCRPGs of our time. Bugs really put a dampener on things.

I agree 100% The thing that upsets me the most this gen are these PC only developers last gen that come over to consoles expect everything to be easy for them and expect us to accept their broken games because for some reason PC gamer let them get away with this.

This is why i have a greater respect for JRPG developers. You know when you put in Final Fantasy, Okami or Dragon Quest you arent going to experience a broken game that needs months of patching. I mean just look at probably the most beautiful game ive seen this gen Ni No Kuni or the leaked Final Fantasy XIII Versus trailer and you see great Quality assurance and pride in their games. Western RPG devs have a long way to go to win me over.

By the way Lazgamer staff we could really use more coverage on Ni No Kuni because it looks stunning and is being made by the famous studio Ghibli and Level 5 which gave us the amazing Dragon Quest VIII the last time they collaborated. If you dont believe me when i say this game is amazing then go watch the 15 minute gameplay trailer released from TGS. Probably my second favourite game of the show after the last Guardian.

Since we are on the topic of JRPG, are we ever gonna see decent JRPG’s on the XBOX 360 again? The first 3 years of the 360’s life was packed with JRPG even though most were mediocre with the exception on LOST ODDYSSEY! I mean that was an amazing game it felt more like Final Fantasy than FFXIII!I think MS has all but given on Japan and as a result 360 owners won’t see any decent JRPGs that being said I kinda over JRPGs I the west seems to be taking the lead, but Acid has a point this thing of shipping broken games needs to stop if Bioware can ship such polished products so should everyone.
