Ok Microsoft, we get it. You said there’d be core games for Kinect..and you weren’t lying. now you’re trying to appeal to my sense of nostalgia. Bastards! Yukio Futatsugi, the fellow who created Panzer Dragoon (and the incredible Phantom Dust) has confirmed he’ll be making a game for Kinect, in which you use your body to fly dragons.

Panzer Dragoon, originally released in 1995 for the ill-fated Sega Saturn was a fantastic rail-shooter, and one of its sequels, the notoriously difficult Panzer Dragoon Orta on the original Xbox is considered one of the greatest rail shooters of all time.

The new game, called Project Draco for now has you interacting with your dragon using Kinect’s camera features to "nurture and learn to communicate" with it in order to make it a better weapon. Other details, including release windows and the like are scant, but news like this gives me a renewed hope for Kinect – even if it is yet another rail shooter.

Let’s hope it ends up being better than Lair.

The company that is making that features some key staff from the Andromeda, the company that made Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Still feels like the Kinect launch is a bit rushed

More Panzer Dragoon? Really? Honest and truly? You’re not yankin’ my chain here or something? Honest?

    Cool.

I dunno if you can tell, but I’ve always liked Panzer Dragoon. ^_^ I own and played Panzer Dragoon, II Zwei, Saga and Orta. Ah, too much to buy. How do I find the time to have a life with all this coming out?

But I don’t know about this yet! I want to see what they really plan to do with Kinect and this classic series.
