If you are more than just a simple gamer, and someone who likes to keep one eye on the industry then this video is a must-see.
The debut episode of Game Theory has some really big industry names, from Will Wright (Sims) and Peter Molyneux (Fable) to Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War), Clint Hocking (Farcry 2) and more talking about the current state of the videogames industry and where it needs to go.
The general consensus is that times are changing like crazy, and we are currently in somewhat of an industry crash. Unless something is done to move forwards and evolve, the ones who sit idly by will see themselves disappearing rather fast.
It’s especially interesting to hear of what Naughty Dog co-founder, Jason Rubin had to say when he speaks of the so-called heyday of this era when games like Crash Bandicoot cost only $8 million to make, but sold 9 million units. That compared to the games of today that sometimes cost up to $80 million and then only sell 5 million units over a few years.
I find this topic to be incredibly interesting, and I would love to hear what you guys think, so please make a point to hit us up in the comments with your outlook on the industry. Video after the jump.
