That’s…that’s a long cat. Yesterday’s Pokémon stream for the upcoming Sword and Shield games may have revealed plenty of new Kaiju-sized Pokémon that definitely referenced Godzilla (I mean just look at that Charizard and Butterfree!), but one of those updated generation one critters undoubtedly stole the show. In an age where cats still rule the Internet long after they got their cheeseburgers, Meowth was a highlight.
Some Gigantamax Pokémon may be chonkier, others may look like they can burn an entire city down just by staring at it but no Pokémon that undergoes that mechanic can stretch their way out of danger like Meowth can. Dats right! Naturally the Internet pounced on this like a cat attacking your toes at night, and the results were fantastic to say the least. From wacky flailing inflatable arm man references to updates of classic memes, here’s how people reacted to the reveal of Gigantamax Meowth:
